Kiko moves his family to Los Alamos, NM to start work at the Zia Company, where his eldest son, Kiko Jr. worked also at as a civil engineer in the 1980's

Kiko moves back to El Paso where he worked at R.E. McKee and the NM Highway Department until his retirement.
